Hullo there,
I heard there is a pharmacy in Berlin called Gethsemane on Stargarderstrasse 79 which sells Dr Hauschka products half price. Do you know if this fabulous rumour is true? Thanks, ciao isabelle
There is indeed a pharmacy at Stargarderstrasse 79 - it's just round the corner so I had a look while we were out for a walk last night. It was closed for the evening but they did have some Dr. Hauschka products in the window with the following prices:
Rosenblüten-Duschcreme €8,50 Lavendel-Bad €9,40 Fitness-Körperöl €9,40 Rosencreme €12,80 Gesichtstonikum €13,70 I'm afraid I don't know what prices Dr Hauschka stuff normally sells for though.
Penguin, a question! As you are tech-supremo no. 1... a fellow blogger(ess) is interested in non-Festnetz internet connection. Are you an expert on providers that don't involve spending a million euros a second by connecting through your mobile?
Hmm, that is a Faß ohne Boden. Personally I'm happy to be away from the Internet when I'm on the move, so I'm not very au fait with that market, which always appears extremely complicated.
The cheapest method is of course to find neighbours who have unprotected WiFi. Fail that, E-Plus has a reputation for the best value for money; nice-ish chart here: http://www.heise.de/mobil/artikel/82232/1 They also have a discount brand, Simyo, which offers a very reasonable sounding 24 cent / MB, albeit without UMTS (the very fast mobile internet): https://www.simyo.de/de/tarif/daten.html (must be ordered online). How exactly does your friend wish to use the connection? As a replacement for the Festnetz, or as an extra for when on the move?
Hi Penguin,
I am only living in Berlin for one month, and I'll travel around during this period. I'm going to Amsterdam in 2 weeks, and I would LOVE to get a Moleskine City Guide for Amsterdam in English (I've got the Berlin one in the UK and I absolutely love it). Is there anywhere in Berlin that sells English Moleskines? Thanks, Suzanne
Hi Suzanne,
see this post for some ideas: http://www.berlin-faq.com/blog/archives/65-Where-can-I-buy-Moleskine-travel-guides-in-Berlin.html Penguin |

Mount Penguin is technically British, but has lived in Berlin for like yonks. WhatThis is a blog of odd stuff he comes across in everyday life, etc. Bit of a lucky dip really. FAQI did originally intend to put together what one day might be the ultimate Berlin FAQ. Due to global warming that hasn't yet happened, but nevertheless if you have any questions about Berlin, feel free to ask them here and I'll see if I can find an answer... Meanwhile...Do come and visit my other blog where there's likely to be more hot penguin action.
