Hell, I'll take the Bryson. Bring it (or is that them?) if you're coming to Stammtisch.
What's a shelf board, quite? A shelf by any other name? And does this mean you're abandoning us for Japan?
It's, well, a board you can use as a shelf. (Or for whatever). They have little circular things on each end which you can use to hook into side supports (which I no longer have, I think - must look in the cellar) to build shelving units. Were very popular in the GDR.
As for Japan, not quite sure yet, but it's a good dry run for getting rid of the VAST AMOUNTS OF JUNK we (I'm talking to you, Mrs. Penguin) have aquired over the past few years. It's very liberating.
Is one forced to immediately move into a WBS 70 on receipt of the shelf board?
It would also go very well with an unsanierte Altbauwohnung with Ofenheizung.
Is there any chance of a photographic illustration? Or a link to one? They could be just the thing for putting all my cookery books onto.
It's just a couple of shelves, presumably made out of chipboard with some plastic fake wood stuck to the outside, right?
Done, see above for example. Note that the camera makes the surface seem nicer than it actually is.
We don't have the side supports any more. I believe these are my oldest items of Berlin furniture, having rescued them from a Hinterhof in 1992.
Ooh, are you willing to post to UK? (I'll pay postage) If so, I'd like the Gaelic book please.
Aha, are you preparing for a future independent Scotland which has thrown off the Anglophone yoke?
Can send no problem (always glad to see a book go to a home where it will be appreciated - if I'm ever going to find the time to learn one of those Celtic fringy languages, it's going to be Welsh). I have a UK bank account; I presume you can deposit / transfer the postage there? Don't know how much postage would be, but the book's cover price is £8 and I can't imagine it would cost anything like that much so send. Anyway, send me your address to the email address above and I'll pop it in the post.
Mummy penguin bought that for Mount Penguin cos he likes to learn every language he can get his hnds on. Trouble is MP never went to Scotland after that.
So MP's going to learn Cymraig? Ha! I'll beat him to it. |
Who,What,FAQWho
Mount Penguin is technically British, but has lived in Berlin for like yonks. WhatThis is a blog of odd stuff he comes across in everyday life, etc. Bit of a lucky dip really. FAQI did originally intend to put together what one day might be the ultimate Berlin FAQ. Due to global warming that hasn't yet happened, but nevertheless if you have any questions about Berlin, feel free to ask them here and I'll see if I can find an answer... Meanwhile...Do come and visit my other blog where there's likely to be more hot penguin action.
